For over 25 years, Sylvania Child Care, a department of Sylvania Community Services, has provided care in a safe, secure learning environment for preschool children. Parents have peace of mind, knowing that their children are well cared for in a safe and fun learning environment.

More than 500 children have enrolled annually in our Ohio-licensed Child Care Programs. Creative activities, exciting field trips, and caring staff ensure a positive environment that nurtures and enriches children. Programs are open Monday through Friday.

Our team is highly trained, and many have over ten years of child care experience. Lead teachers are Early Childhood Education majors, and all teachers participate in ongoing in-service training in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Diseases, and Child Abuse Prevention.

Northview is a joint venture of Sylvania Schools Career Technology Department and Sylvania Community Services. As a training site for high school students studying Early Childhood Development, preschool children have the benefit of much-individualized attention.

Woodrow Preschool

The Woodrow Preschool program has been serving area parents and their children since 1999. The building itself, located at Memorial Park just off Erie Street in Sylvania, has been a component of the Sylvania community’s commitment to quality education for many years.

After School, Before School, and Camps

Sylvania Community Services has adopted a new model for its childcare programming, which benefits our children and our community.

As part of an ongoing commitment to its mission, SCS undertook an extensive process to assess how to provide safe, quality child care within a rapidly changing environment. Our goal was the same as it had always been – to ensure children had access to enriching programming from preschool through the fifth grade.

Our assessment indicated that the best approach for the community was to adopt a new way of doing business. In late 2022, the SCS Board voted to contract with Right At School to provide its school-aged programming beginning on June 1, 2023.

Right At School is the ideal partner to join SCS to create a programming continuum that will support our children's educational needs and well-being.

Our leadership has worked hard to ensure a smooth transition to this new way of doing business for students, parents, and our staff.
